Galveston Bay Charters

Well the weather God's kept us pinned to the shorelines for most of the week. Working topwaters early we were able to score pretty consistently for the first hour of daylight. Once the sun came up we were switching to plastic and able to land several trout and a few reds. Over the weekend we were back over the midbay reefs, however we are now fishing alot furthur north than we have been for most of the summer. We are fishing deep shell and around well heads in upper Galveston and lower Trinity bay and have been scoring on a consistent basis. The outlook for the rest of the week bodes pretty well considering the way it blew last week. Have some openings left in August and you can take advantage of a special we are running that is posted on the front page. What a great week on the water. The weather cooporated and so did the fish. Fished 6 days this week with my only day off on Thursday, and only because my second grandbaby in 2 weeks was born that day. What a trophy! Trout are still holding over the mid bay reefs in pretty good numbers, but they are starting to move a little further to the north of where we have been for most of the summer, which is normal this time of year. Still some Redfish mixed in on occassion, however for the most part they are schooling up in shallows and in the back lakes. Looks like the wind is going to blow early week and hopefully lay down later in the week. It's been a banner year and as I have said before I think our fall fishing is going to be unbelievable, to say the least. If you would like to get in on some of this great fishing give us a call and "Let's go Catching". Had another great week on the water! The pattern is pretty much the same as the last six weeks with the exception of some larger trout showing up on the shorelines for waders throwing topwaters early. Also, reds are starting to school up in the shallows. Hosted the Hall party on 07/14/2009 (Mike, Junior, and Colton) and boy what a competetive bunch. Aside from a nice stringer of trout, they wanted a shark. There has been some schools roaming the bay and I knew just the spot for a little shark action along with some pretty good trout action as well, so we headed over there and it was'nt long before Colton had the first shark on ( a small blacktip). Not long after that Pop's got the big bite. He set the hook on a big one. More than we wanted, nonethless a real screamer. We tightend down before he spooled us and he cut us off. The heat is on and so are the fish. It' been an extremely hot July and has basicly put us into an August pattern. Trout are holding really well over deep shell and mud, with the occasional redfish mixed in. We had a great week fishing the mid-bay reefs with limits or near limits on most trips. Topwater bite has been sporadic at best, with the best bite right at daylight (big moon has alot to do with that). Switching to plastic after the sun gets up seems to be the ticket. Have a couple of openings the week of 07/13/2009 and August is filling up fast. We've had a great summer on the water and it should continue into the fall. Fishing overall is awesome right now!
